About the Storytellers:
Adam Mellema dances, sings, and uses an exuberant style all his own to play every character in his stories – every man, woman, and paperweight.
Jenifer Strauss is dynamic and thought-provoking, engaging and educational, heart-warming and humorous. She offers a unique brand of energy-injected and interactive live performances.

Larry Castleberry is an engaging Storyteller who weaves folk and fairytales stories from the world of the Martial arts, African and African American along with personal stories to educate, entertain and inspire. Enjoy engaging, spell binding and interactive storytelling event with tales from the rich literary traditions of Africa and the far East.

This highly interactive virtual workshop focuses on the relevance of the spoken word and the oral tradition in an educational setting. Teachers can learn how to take a story off the page and bring it to life and how it can be used to support the curriculum.
Storyteller and teaching artist Noa Baum, engages participants in dynamic hand-on activities to experience their creativity, and find their unique storyteller voice as she introduces them to the valuable role storytelling plays in the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
Teachers will:
Discover the power of oral language
Learn a few simple steps to remember and tell a story
Gain tools to hold students’ attention
Develop creativity and self-expression

Join us for a masterful performance by renowned harpist Cynthia Shelhart. Cynthia is an international authority on double-strung harp performance and pedagogy, and she literally wrote the book used by double harp students around the world. A winner of the US National Scottish Harp Championship, Cynthia is in international demand as a festival clinician, speaker, and performing artist.

The Jackson Storyfest 2021 showcase features storytelling in all its forms, with performances by Jackson School of the Arts dance troupe, poetry and music duo Lonnie & Clyde, Center Stage Jackson, as well as storytellers Satori Shakoor and Tre Howl.
This event will be held at Weatherwax Hall in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra building and is free, however registration is required.
During the week of Storyfest, and in honor of Native American History Month, we’re excited to present a collection of traditional tales, music and songs of the First Nation people who have called the Great Lakes Region their home, performed by storyteller Genot Picor.
