Tails & Trails

Tails & Trails is back this summer! This program runs July 15-August 30 and is an opportunity for the entire family to discover the wildlife right here in Jackson.

Stop by any JDL branch starting July 15 to pick up a passport with instructions for exploring the Dahlem Center and information on the animals you might find on the trails. Passports will also be available at the Dahlem Center, if you’d like to save an extra step!

Trails & Tails

JDL is excited to partner with the Dahlem Center to present Trails & Tails as a part of the Summer Reading Program! The program will run July 14-31.

Stop by any JDL branch beginning July 14 to pick up a Nature Explorer kit. Each kit includes a Passport to different stops along the trails at the Dahlem Center. As you and your family explore, you’ll mark the Passport at each stop and learn about different “tails” that you might see on the trails.

Bring your completed Passport to a JDL location to be entered into a drawing to win a prize.

Luna Moths at the Library

Beginning June 23, we will be raising Luna moth caterpillars and streaming a video so that you can watch their changing life cycles from caterpillar to pupa to adult! Sit back and relax while you tune in throughout the day to watch the caterpillars munching on leaves and growing. Watch the livestream here.

Help us to name our Luna Moths! Stay tuned for more details on how to send in your ideas and then vote on your favorites.

Craft Work: Simple Birdfeeder

Pick up an easy bird feeder kit at your local branch beginning June 9! Each kit comes with cheerios and pipe cleaners to make some fun treats for your backyard birds (while supplies last).

This craft is great for helping preschoolers develop fine motor skills while appreciating our local wildlife.
