Bots and Books

Let’s explore robotics! Join the MC Hammers Robotics Team from Michigan Center High School and Jackson District Library’s Summit Branch for a fun filled event. Experienced team members will teach participants how to program Lego robots, construct mechanisms to enhance robots and lead STEM activities.

This event will be held at the Lion’s Club in Vandercook Lake.

Session Dates: July 18 and August 8, 2 PM

Intended for ages 7-14. Register for a session by calling the Summit Branch at 517-783-4030.

Spore Prints

Explore the world of Fungi with Albion’s Kids ‘N’ Stuff Museum! Kids ages 7-13 will learn about the parts of a mushroom, participate in a “mushroom dissection,” and then use their mushroom to create a piece of art.

Kaboomistry

Michigan Science Center presents Kaboomistry!

Why do things explode? Kids can learn about the relationships between pressure, temperature, and fuel to explain why things go KA-BOOM! We’ll mix physics and chemistry to get some loud, flashy effects!

Robotics Demo

Join us at the Springport Township Hall to see a demo of the robot built by the Springport High School robotics team! This program is great for students, and anyone interested in STEAM and robotics.

Spring Break: Full STEAM Ahead

It’s full STEAM ahead for discovery this Spring Break! 

Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math to get stamps on your passport and work toward your goal of discovering all 13 fields represented at JDL.

Visit 3 locations to earn a prize, visit 7 locations to earn a second prize and visit 10 locations to earn a third prize and be entered into a grand prize drawing!

You can also complete a trivia sheet at any branch for a grand prize entry; no travel required.

Activities are available until 30 minutes before each library closes during the week of Spring Break: March 22-30.

Learn about the rock cycle at the Carnegie Library by performing experiments (you get to wear goggles!), breaking open real geodes and checking out cool rocks and fossils!
