National Parks Storytime

Join us at the Meijer Branch for a special storytime about our National Parks! We’ll read stories, sing songs, and make a National Parks themed craft together.

Intended for ages 3-6. No registration required.

What Does a Park Ranger Do?

What’s is like working at a National Park as a Park Ranger? How does someone become a Park Ranger? These questions and more will be answered by JDL’s own Bambi Skrzynski, former National Parks Ranger.

Children of all ages are encouraged to join us this summer for a presentation and Q&A about this exciting career.

Exploring Our National Parks

Join us for a presentation exploring some of America’s National Parks with Jackson photographer, author and historian, Douglas Leffler.

Douglas will cover a select number of National Parks that he and his wife Sandra visited over the years, followed by a discussion on visiting Michigan’s State parks and our local parks.

Motoring with the Maitlands

Join us for a conversation with the Maitlands, the Jackson family who set the Guinness Book of World Records in 2018 for visiting all 418 National Parks! Ask questions about how they worked together for 8 years, using homeschool curriculums and spending a lot of time traveling, (even hosting exchange students on the journey for 10 months!!) to make this dream a reality.
