Planting Bulbs in the Fall

Join us at the Springport Branch to learn about planting bulbs in the fall so they come up in the spring, and get some bulbs to take home with you.

This program is intended for teens and adults.

Plant a Tree with JDL

**Update: Due to a supplier issue, the trees will be arriving late. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to have them available later this week. Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates once they arrive!**

Join JDL with helping our environment by planting tree seedlings! With summer just around the corner, late spring is the perfect time to plant tree seedlings.

Stop by any JDL branch to pick up a free tree seedling (6-18 inches in size) along with planting instructions! No reservation is needed, however seedlings are available while supplies last.

Tree types: Yellow Birch, Bush Honeysuckle, Common Nine Bark, Northern White Cedar. Please note, selection is subject to availability and patrons may not request a specific tree.

Once you’ve planted your tree, take a picture and tag Jackson District Library (@JacksonDistrictLibrary) on Facebook and Instagram, so we all can see the impact we’ve all made together!

Eco-friendly Gardening

Stop by any JDL branch starting May 9 to pick up an at-home gardening kit that includes a basil seed packet and small containers, so you can garden indoors or outdoors depending on the space you have available. Kits will also include information about planting the seeds and how to garden in a way that is sustainable and eco-friendly.

Available while supplies last.

Anyone Can Be a Gardener!

The basics of gardening – be it container or ground- are demonstrated in a relaxed, easy outside setting. Choosing the best plants and spaces, tools and materials needed, and feeding and maintenance are some of the topics covered, and we’ll even look at a simple way to start a Fairy Garden with your little ones!

A tour of the newly revamped Friends of the Parma Library flower garden (originally created in 1995) is included!

The prerecorded program will be available on JDL’s Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.
