Monster Mash Deadline

To celebrate October and all things spooky, we’re having a Monster Mash contest for kids! Create a monster out of whatever you can find. Paint a picture, building with Legos, use old jars and paper towel tubes – wherever your imagination takes you!

To submit an entry, bring your creation into any JDL branch OR take a picture and send it to community@myjdl.com with your name and home branch.

Entries will be accepted October 1-31. 

Winners will be selected from each branch and receive a $25 JOANN Fabrics gift card.

NaNoWriMo Short Story Contest

National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo for short) is an annual writeathon that takes place during the month of November each year.

Writers around the world attempt to write 50,000 words of fiction between the 1st and 30th of November. Founded by writer Chris Baty in 1999, NaNoWriMo has grown from 21 participants in its first year to hundreds of thousands of registered participants annually.

JDL is an official NaNoWriMo Come Write In space for 2021.

Gingerbread House Contest

The Meijer Branch is hosting a Gingerbread House competition! There will be separate divisions for children, teens, and adults with prizes for the winners. Houses will be judged on craftsmanship and creativity.

Drop off your entry from Saturday, December 15th through Thursday, December 20th. Entries will be judged and the winner announced on Friday, December 21st. Please limit your Gingerbread House to a maximum footprint of 12″ x 18″. One entry per person, please.

Incognito Contest at the Spring Arbor Branch

Stop into the Spring Arbor Branch in your hat and/or mask! Enter to win the Incognito Contest prize for best disguise! Have your picture taken to enter the drawing.

Ornament Contest

Create your own handmade Christmas Ornament to hang on our tree! Ornaments should be no bigger than 5″. Can be made by any material.

1 entry per patron. All ages welcome to enter. Judging will take place on December 20th. Prizes aware for children, teen, and adult entries.

Come to the Spring Arbor Branch for a Pet Parade!

Bring your pet to the Spring Arbor Library for a costume parade. This is your chance to win a prize for the best pet costume. Prizes awarded for several different categories!

4th Annual Scarecrow Contest

Create your own scarecrow to decorate the Springport Village Main Street!

Registration and T-post pickups begin Monday, October 15. Bring in your entry when completed to be put on Main St. light posts.
