Larry Martin “WWII In Their Own Words”

October 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT

Please join us at the Carnegie Library for another installment of Larry Martin’s “WWII In Their Own Words” program.

In October, Larry will be showing a video interview with Barney Crampton. Mr. Crampton enlisted in the Navy in October of 1942, and was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Essex. He flew about 40 combat missions. Barney will tell stories about torpedoing four troop transports that had about 1,000 soldiers each, watching his pilot drop a bomb on a Japanese aircraft carrier which resulted in a direct hit, and of a horrible fire that resulted in a feeling of helplessness about the loss of life that he was witnessing.
