Human Library, Unjudge Someone

July 12 @ 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

The saying goes, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” What if for one day, that book was a person who you could ask questions about themselves? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be homeless? A single mother? A politician? An immigrant? Anyone with a very different life than your own? Come to the Carnegie Library Auditorium on Friday, July 12th. at 4:00 pm to “check out” a human book and unjudge someone.

The Human Library Organization aims to contribute to greater tolerance and understanding between people worldwide. It is a method to create dialogue between very different individuals who would not otherwise have had an opportunity to talk together. The Human Library Organization is a Danish idea from 2000 and is now available in more than 80 countries.

The Human Library does not have an opinion; they offer a platform for dialogue where it is okay to ask difficult questions,  because they are expected and appreciated by the people that volunteered to share their answers.
