Event Series Event Series: Finding My Frida Selfie Contest

Finding My Frida Selfie Contest

February 11 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm EST

Selfies as art? Absolutely! Almost half of Frida Kahlo’s paintings were self-portraits that represented her culture, interests, and inner thoughts. As we get ready for Frida Kahlo’s Garden in partnership with Ella Sharp Museum and Jackson School of the Arts, we invite you to show us who you are through a selfie!

Submission Guidelines:

  • Selfies should include 2-4 symbols expressing who you are, whether by your clothing or by use of props (We get it, taking a selfie can be a challenge, so it’s okay if someone else takes the photo of you!)

  • Photos can be submitted from February 1-15 via email to marketing@myjdl.com. Please include name and age.

  • Photos will be judged in two age groups: Ages 0-15 and 15 & Up.

  • The top 8 photos in each age group will be shown on display as a part of Frida Kahlo’s Garden exhibit at the Ella Sharp Museum beginning February 22.

Not familiar with Frida’s self-portraits? Here are some sites for inspiration (but remember, your selfie should reflect who YOU are).
